공개 키 기반 구조란, 디지털인증의 발급, 관리, 배포, 사용, 저장, 취소, 파기와 공개키 암호화의 관리에 쓰이는 일련의 역할, 정책, 하드웨어, 소프트웨어 절차의 총칭이다.
PKI는 CA, RA, and Validation Authorities들(that are responsible for issuing and lifecycle management of trusted identities for theusers, servers and things)을 위해 함수를 실행하는 소프트웨어, 하드웨어 컴포넌트 를 의미한다.
** What is RA(Registration Authority)???
A Registration Authority (RA) is a function for certificate enrollment used in public key infrastructures. RA는 PKI에서 인증서 등록을 위해 사용되는 함수를 의미한다.
It is responsible for receiving certificate signing requests – for the initial enrollment or renewals – from people, servers, things or other applications. The Registration Authority verifies and forwards these requests to a Certificate Authority (CA).
A Registration Authority is also responsible for receiving other certificate lifecycle management functions. For example, revocation. The RA implements business logic to accept requests, including methods for verifying the origin of the requester and the party that should have the certificate.
암호학적으로, 공개된 키를 개인이나 집단을 대표하는 적절한 주체와 엮는 것이며, 이는 인증기관(CA, Certificate Authority)에의 등록과 해당 기관에 의한 인증의 발행을 통해 성립된다.
